The Briggsy Awards

Most interesting part of this class: I think the poem unit was interesting. It was neat listening to everyone’s poems.
Most boring part of this class: Midweek worksheets. I didn’t really like doing those each week.
Hardest I laughed in this class: When we were filming our movie. Dustin kept messing up and we had to start over a lot.
Thing that I learned that will be most useful to know in the real world: Good leads for papers. I was never good at doing that before this class.
Best thing about Brigs as a teacher: He is really funny and he makes his class enjoyable.
Things Brigs can do to make this class better: I can’t think of anything. I really enjoyed this class.

Your Top Films

I love to watch movies! Here are some of my favorites.
Comedy: Mean girls. I can watch this movie over and over again. It always makes me laugh.
Action: Hunger Games. This movie was amazing! I went to the midnight premiere and loved it.
Drama: Titanic. My sister and I love to watch this movie together. I sing My Heart Will Go On as loud as I can when we watch it.
Chick Flick: The Lucky One. This was a pretty good movie. Zac Efron is the main character so that makes it even better!
Science Fiction: Men in Black: This is another movie I can watch over and over. I want to go see Men in Black 3.
Disney: Cinderella. I love all the princess movies but Cinderella was always my favorite.

A Wrinkle In Time

We all wish we could re-do something. I’m only 18 so I can’t think of any majors choices that I would like to do over again. I do wish I was a little more outgoing in high school. I was always really shy and only did cheerleading. I always wonder about how many different friends I would have if I did a different sport. This year I was a little better about being shy and I have made some new friends but now that I’m graduating I will have to tell them goodbye soon. I’m going to learn from this and try to be more outgoing in college.

Casting Your Life

In the story of my life I think Anne Hathaway would play me. When she was younger in the Princess Diary’s she had fluffy hair like mine. My parents are important to me so they would have to be in my movie. George Clooney would play as my dad and Kelly Rutherford would play my mom. Ashley Kennedy is my best friend and we always joke about how she looks like a young Lindsey Lohan so Lindsey would have to play Ashley. This movie would show all the fun times I have with my family and friends. It will make you laugh and be a fun movie.

I'm So Sorry

I’m so sorry. I usually don’t get mad or upset at people, but when I do that anger stays with me for awhile. I don’t yell or confront the problem I just walk away. There are two sides to every story and I’m sorry I never gave you a chance to explain your side. We won’t be as close as before, I won’t tell you my secrets anymore or hangout on the weekends. I will make an effort to be nice and talk to you but understand you hurt me. We will be seeing one another soon and I hope I treat you better than before.

Snopes

When I was young I remember teachers telling me that if I swallowed my gum it would stay in my stomach for 7 years. I never did it again after that. I didn’t want a seven year old piece of gum in my stomach. Thanks to snopes.com I now know that this old wives’ tale is false. I still don’t think I will swallow my gum though. I liked looking around on snopes.com. Some things were about movies, music or food, I learned that Belle from Beauty and the Beast showed up in the movie Hunchback of Notre Dame.

Love Stories

My Grandpa always tells me the best stories. He was a fire fighter and the father of 6 kids so he always had something to tell me. My family is very close and we get together almost every holiday and on Halloween we sit around a campfire telling stories. Each year my grandpa would tell this story.

One dark night when the sun was bright

Two dead boys got up to fight

Back to back they face each other

They drew their swords and shot each other

And the deaf police men heard the noise

And he got up and shot the two dead boys

It never made sense to me because everything was opposite. How can they be back to back and face each other? This is just one of the many stories my grandpa tells me.

The Zombies Are Marching

I truly hope there are never zombies in this world, I hate them! Whenever I watch a zombie movie I have nightmares. But if there was a zombie outbreak and I had the choice to hide or fight I would lock myself inside a panic room and wait till it was over. It’s not like I can do much against things that are much stronger than me and want to eat me. Since we live in Central Illinois I’m sure there will be some hunters that would love to go out and kill the zombies I wouldn’t want to get in the way. So while I wait in my safe room I think the world will be able to recover from a zombie outbreak, at least I hope so.

Myths About Teens

Adults are constantly complaining about teenagers. Sometimes I can understand why but other times they don’t know what they are talking about. Some people think that kids these days are lazy and everything get handed to them. My uncles give me a hard time that I don’t have a job yet but I have more important things to do. Kids have hard classes or they are in sports. I think school is more important than having a job. Maybe adults think kids need jobs because they had jobs at our age, but things are different and most teens are going to college and they need to get good grades.

My Odd Habit

My odd habit is crossing my legs when I stand. It’s not very odd but it’s something that I have always done. When I was in the children’s choir at my church the music teacher would always tell me to uncross my legs. So I would stand normal with my legs hip width apart then I would go right back to crossing my legs. I think it’s much more comfortable to cross my legs when I stand around. I have done this as long as I can remember.

Beloved Toy

American Girl Dolls were the thing to have when I was little. I had three of them that I loved my twin, Kailey, and Nellie. My first one was Renee, she was my twin doll. We had the cute matching outfits and when I went to buy her at the American Girl Doll store my Mom surprised me and I got to eat in the special cafĂ© with my doll. It was amazing! I liked my other dolls too but Renee was my favorite. Kailey was a surfer girl and Nellie was Samantha’s best friend. I would have tea parties with them but now they are just sitting in my closet.

Fear

When I was young I remember being terrified of spiders. They grossed me out with all their legs and how the could climb everywhere. We lived in the country so I saw lots of spiders. Sometimes I would walk into a spider web or find them crawling on me! My siblings were nice and told me that when I slept spiders would come into my room at night and crawl inside my mouth and I would eat them. Luckily I grew out of my arachnophobia and I don’t worry about eating spiders anymore.

The Perfect Mate

My perfect boyfriend would have many great qualities. He would be kind, smart and a Christian. I would love it if he had brown hair and green eyes. He would also be tall but not too tall. He needs to make me laugh and he would be in some kind of sport so I could go to his games and cheer him on. He needs to know how to dress and likes to watch girly movies with me. He needs to be a sweet guy that likes to spend time with me.

Week 1 - Dear Kiddo

To my future child,

Right now I am a senior in high school and I would like to share some things about me so you can know me better. I am a busy person and involved in cheerleading, National Honors Society, and youth group at Bethel Lutheran Church. I have a great family and wonderful friends, I hope you have met them and love them as much as I do. As you grow up I hope you enjoy your life and be yourself. The world can be a rough place but when you find amazing people to spend your time with it is so enjoyable! I love you!
